Inspired by this image...
This 90-minute class is designed for adults with little to no experience with watercolor painting. OR if you've had some experience with the medium, but feel like you need a refresher or more practice with fundamental techniques, this is a great next step in your artistic journey. Over the course of the month, you will complete 1-2 simple paintings.
In the first week's class, we will concentrate on watercolor techniques such as wet-into-wet, glazing, salt, gouging, dry brushing, creating texture, mixing and blending. We will discuss materials, paints and paper. The remaining classes will be spent working on the painting shown in the sample photo for the month, and the skills taught in the first week will be reviewed and practiced as the painting is completed. Instruction will include demonstration, work time and Q&A.
Due to the nature of this type of instruction, I cannot offer refunds for missed classes.
SUPPLIES:
Special: Ultra Fine Sharpie
Paper -- you will need a watercolor pad or block (approx 9x12) and watercolor postcards. Postcards will be used BOTH for your practice.
Watercolor Paints -- Please use your choice of colors as I do not require specific colors. If you buy tubes of paint, be sure to also buy a palette to put them in. The Paul Rubens 24 full pan watercolor set is a great beginning set available on Amazon for about $26. I also like White Nights 12 color full pan set for $36.
Watercolor Brushes -- #12, #8 and #4 rounds, 1" flat, and a smaller detail brush
Water container, rag or towel for blotting, pencil and eraser, painter's tape and a board to tape your paper onto, Kleenex or roll of TP
